Domestic terrorism is much more statistically common than foreign terrorism, as those who feel they have cause to be angry enough to act against anything are much more likely to act against something they see as wrong in their own environment, Opportunity and ease of access also plays a role in this observation. Though terrorist acts are exceedingly rare they do occur on a somewhat regular basis if definitions are kept broad and are more likely to be domestic in nature than foreign born. (Lewis, 2000, p. 201) Domestic and international terrorism are similar in some ways, they both experience the kind of seething anger and hatred needed to perpetrate violent acts to be heard, yet the two groups also differ in motivation. Domestic terrorists tend to think of one issue as the core issue of devalue, race, religion… while international terrorists seem to be striking out at an entire set of standards and rights that they do not...

They are seeking not to topple their target but get international attention and use the opportunity to make a point, regarding their ideology. Both organizations are fear mongering and scapegoating all the ills of humanity on an ideology they seek to destroy but they often go about their acts in completely different ways, cold and calculating nonetheless.
